Patients with HPV-positive tumors experienced better clinical outcomes than those with HPV-negative disease, including cancer-specific survival (CSS; HR: 3.47, 95% CI 1.16-10.4, <i>p</i> = 0.02) and disease-free survival (DFS; HR: 3.73, 95% CI 1.29-10.7, <i>p</i> = 0.01), whereas p53 positivity alone was not independently associated with survival. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
