To assess this possibility in a controlled manner, we have compared the ability of a series of TKI to inhibit each of these transporters in HEK293 cells that have been genetically modified to express either ENT1, ENT2 or ENBT1 in isolation, and on ENBT1 natively expressed in the chronic myeloid leukemia cell line K562. The gene discussed is SLC29A2; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
