Initiation of advanced IBD therapies was also lower in the GLP-1 RA group (OR 0.45, 95% CI, 0.33-0.61; P < .0001).
Conclusion
Despite a higher burden of comorbidities and a greater mean BMI, patients with obesity and IBD treated with GLP-1 RAs experienced significantly fewer gastrointestinal complications, thromboembolic events, disease flares, and surgical interventions compared with those undergoing BS. The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
