Objectives
To evaluate the current evidence supporting the cerebrovascular protective effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and to outline their mechanisms of action in stroke prevention.
Methods
A narrative review was conducted by synthesising data from cardiovascular outcome trials, meta-analyses and mechanistic studies involving GLP-1RAs such as semaglutide, liraglutide and dulaglutide. Here, GLP1R is linked to stroke disorder.
