This meta-analysis showed that puerarin administration reduced the myocardial infarction size and myocardial ischemic size, improved cardiac systolic/diastolic function (e.g., increased LVEF, LVSP, and LVFS; decreased LVIDd and LVEDP), attenuated myocardial injury (decreased cTn-T, CK, CK-MB, and LDH levels), suppressed oxidative stress (elevated SOD and NO; reduced MDA), inhibited inflammatory responses (decreased TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6; increased GSH), and reduced cardiomyocyte apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and myocardial infarction.
