Significant associations were evident between LH and FSH (obesity: r2 = 0.19, <i>P</i> = 0.003; without obesity: r2 = 0.24, <i>P</i> = 0.001), inhibin b and FSH (obesity: r2 = 0.21, <i>P</i> = 0.002; without obesity: r2 = 0.02, <i>P</i> = 0.41), and LH and SHBG (obesity: r2 = 0.25, <i>P</i> = 0.0005; without obesity: r2 0.01, <i>P</i> = 0.49). The gene discussed is SHBG; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
