This study aimed to investigate the association between carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein (ox-LDL), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), and inflammatory biomarkers in patients with obesity undergoing sleeve gastrectomy (SG), a widely performed metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) procedure.
Methods
This prospective study included 93 patients with obesity who underwent SG. The gene discussed is SERPINE1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
