SGLT2 inhibitors were associated with a significantly lower risk of all-cause dementia (HR = 0.74; 95% CI: 0.62-0.87), Alzheimer's disease (HR = 0.62; 95% CI: 0.52-0.74), and vascular dementia (HR = 0.54; 95% CI: 0.49-0.60) compared to DPP-4 inhibitors. Here, SLC5A2 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
