CRP and neoplasm: The ability of CRP to directly bind B4GALT1, B4GALT3, B4GALT4, and ST3GAL4 may also impact the glycosylation of ceramide and its intermediates (specifically through galactosylation and sialylation) (Table 2 and Supplementary Figure S4) to further influence the function and activities of ceramide, in addition to generally altering the sphingolipid rheostat, which itself could have broad implications on tumor development, progression, and treatment resistance.
