CD79A and common variable immunodeficiency: While IgA from normal donors might not address the dysbiotic microbial species found in subjects with CVID (34), polyclonal IgA supplementation, in parallel with IgG replacement, (for subjects who have not developed anti-IgA antibodies) could represent a novel therapeutic strategy to restore proper gut mucosal barriers and commensal bacteria containment, which may then thwart inflammation and autoimmunity in these patients.
