Specifically, an analysis of tumor samples from over 400 patients with MIBC revealed significant correlations between various microorganisms, including E. coli, butyrate-producing bacterium SM4/1, and an Oscillatoria species, and the expression of classic EMT-related genes such as E-cadherin, vimentin, snail family transcriptional repressor 2 (SNAI2), snail family transcriptional repressor 3 (SNAI3), and twist family BHLH transcription factor 1 (TWIST1).
