PIR and cancer: Moreover, the study of piR in relation to DNA damage [77] or telomere length [78], as well as the effect of immunomodulators on their expression level with other ncRNAs including ncRNA–miRNA regulatory axes or signaling pathways, inflammatory, and/or metabolic biomarkers [79,80,81], respectively, may further support the clinical translation of piRNA-based biomarker use in cancer and/or chronic disease research, a step-toward precision.
