The potential therapeutic of FASL+ Tregs in autoimmune diseases, such as autoimmune diabetes, was highlighted by Kaminitz et al. in a study showing that the transfer of highly suppressive FASLhigh-expressing Tregs delays the onset of hyperglycemia, reduces insulitis, and protects NOD mice against T1D [71]. This evidence concerns the gene FASLG and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
