MetS was associated with an overexpression of the proinflammatory markers IL-1β (p < 0.05), IL-6 (p < 0.01), MCP-1 (p < 0.001), and TNF-α (p < 0.001) and with a downregulation in the gene expression of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 (p < 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and metabolic syndrome.
