As shown in Table 3, MetS was associated with a significant increase in the circulating levels of total cholesterol (p < 0.001), LDL-cholesterol (p < 0.05), HDL-cholesterol (p < 0.01), triglycerides (p < 0.01), and leptin (p < 0.001), in comparison to mice fed with chow. This evidence concerns the gene LEP and metabolic syndrome.
