These findings highlight limitations in the current ATN biomarker classification system (the ATN model [12]: amyloid (A), tau (T), and neurodegeneration (N)), which falls short of explaining the disproportionate prevalence of both AD and vascular risk factors (e.g., hypertension, diabetes) in AAs compared to Whites [3,4,5,13,14,15]. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
