For example, the aberrant secretion and toxic extracellular aggregation of destabilized, aggregation-prone variants of amyloidogenic proteins including transthyretin (TTR) or immunoglobulin light chain (LC) are implicated in the onset and pathogenesis of protein aggregation diseases such as the TTR amyloidoses and light chain amyloidosis (Desport et al., 2012; Sekijima, 2014).
