Elevation of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is common even in non-severe cases, but higher enzyme levels have been associated with dengue hemorrhagic fever, severe dengue, and adverse outcomes, leading the WHO 2009 guidelines to include AST/ALT ≥ 1000 U/L as one of the criteria for severe dengue [3,6]. Here, GOT1 is linked to Dengue hemorrhagic fever.
