IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common form of chronic glomerulonephritis, in which immunoglobulins, mainly IgA, are deposited specifically in the mesangial region of the glomerulus, and mesangial cell proliferation and increased mesangial matrix expansion are observed (Berger, 1969; Wyatt and Julian, 2013; Yeo et al., 2018). The gene discussed is CD79A; the disease is IgA glomerulonephritis.
