Interestingly, the O-ct subgroup presented the lowest level of the anti-inflammatory IL10 compared to both the other two subgroups and the Young group, whereas the highest expression of the antiviral IFNG (IFNγ) was observed in the O-g subgroup, a group of patients possibly at higher risk of nosocomial infections because of the long hospitalization (Figure 7B). Here, IFNG is linked to nosocomial infection.
