GLP1R and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs), such as semaglutide (Wegovy®), have quickly emerged as widely utilized pharmacologic agents in the management of both obesity and type 2 diabetes, including in pediatric populations [1,2]. Among their understood physiologic effects, delayed gastric emptying is especially relevant in the perioperative setting, as it may increase the risk of pulmonary aspiration during anesthesia.
