P2RX7 and Chagas disease: Additional strategies include the development of biomarkers based on P2X7 receptor activity—such as inflammation‐ or fibrosis‐associated markers evaluated in the progression from indeterminate to cardiac forms of Chagas disease—the use of nanotechnology‐based delivery systems to enhance drug bioavailability in target tissues, including noninvasive approaches capable of crossing the blood–brain barrier, and the application of advanced imaging techniques, such as PET tracers for P2X7, to map receptor expression and inflammation in real time [110–112].
