This result is consistent with studies in adult populations where PTSD has been characterized by increased pro-inflammatory and decreased anti-inflammatory cytokine levels (Yang and Jiang, 2020; Yuan et al., 2019; Passos et al., 2015; Eraly et al., 2014) and to heightened IL-6 production following stimulation (Rohleder et al., 2004). Here, IL6 is linked to post-traumatic stress disorder.
