Current CRC treatment strategies targeting metastasis focus on three main approaches: (1) Blocking inductive signaling: Monoclonal antibodies or small molecule inhibitors targeting oxidized HMGB1 (e.g., glycyrrhizic acid analogs) can disrupt the crosstalk between BM-MSCs and CRC cells, with preclinical models demonstrating the restoration of 5-FU sensitivity. Here, HMGB1 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
