ATF4 and cardiomyopathy: In a mouse model of mitochondrial cardiomyopathy constructed by cardiac-specific deletion of Cox10, an assembly factor of the cytochrome c oxidase, activation of the Oma1-DAP3 binding cell death enhancer 1 (DELE1) axis could elicit ATF4-mediated ISR, which regulated glutathione metabolism, reduced lipid peroxidation and protected against ferroptosis, ultimately delayed the progression of cardiomyopathy (Ahola et al., 2022).
