These clinical findings were reinforced by biomarker analyses demonstrating elevated inflammatory cytokines in the urine of patients with COVID-19 and urinary symptoms, including interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-8 (IL-8), interferon gamma-induced protein 10 (IP-10), and growth-regulated oncogene/C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 1 (GRO/CXCL-1) [1,4]. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
