In this study, we demonstrated that the semi-quantitative IG score, based on five immunohistochemical stainings—CD68 (macrophages), CD3 (T cells), CD20 (B cells), CD138 (plasma cells), and CD66b (neutrophils)—allowed for significant and rapid discrimination between the gingiva of healthy controls and that of patients with periodontitis. Here, CD68 is linked to periodontitis.
