In their study, serum VEGF (isoform not specified) at median of 4 days post-ischemic stroke was non-significantly elevated (median of 573.5 pg/mL) in patients with 3-month functional outcome; however, higher VEGF (median of 5,553.7 pg/mL) at 3 months correlated with worse functional outcome 2 years after stroke (Åberg et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and ischemic stroke.
