The Perindopril Protection Against Recurrent Stroke Study (PROGRESS) showed that in patients with a history of stroke (including ICH), treatment with an angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor with or without a diuretic lowered average systolic blood pressure (SBP) levels and reduced the risk of future CSVD-associated ICH by 50% compared with placebo (Weinberger, 2001). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and stroke disorder.
