To experimentally validate the relationship between tumor acidity and dysadherin in intestinal tumorigenesis, we utilized the dysadherin knockout (KO) ApcMin/+ mouse model (ApcMin/+; Fxyd5−/−) developed in a previous study.27 Dysadherin expression was primarily restricted to tumor epithelial cells, which is consistent with previous reports demonstrating its limited expression in nonmalignant epithelial tissues and other cell types23,25,33 (Supplementary Fig. 2a). The gene discussed is FXYD5; the disease is neoplasm.
