Intravitreal injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) agents is currently the first-line treatment for ME secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO-ME), with the “3+PRN” regimen widely adopted in clinical practice (Larsen et al., 2016; Campochiaro and Akhlaq, 2021), whereby three consecutive monthly injections are followed by as-needed maintenance according to the disease condition. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is retinal vein occlusion.
