These findings align with REMIT‐sita and REMIT‐dapa studies in early type 2 diabetes mellitus, which demonstrated that combining basal insulin with oral antihyperglycemic agents for 8–12 weeks (metformin plus DPP‐4 inhibitors or SGLT‐2 inhibitors), provided only short‐term benefits while long‐term remission rates were comparable to standard management [19, 20]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and diabetes mellitus.
