CD40LG and brucellosis: Bacterial culture is considered the “gold standard” for the laboratory diagnosis of brucellosis, exhibiting inter-study detection capability variances spanning 10% to 90%.[11] A review by Faddoul L of 46 brucellosis patients from 3 Lebanese hospitals compared the sensitivity of different diagnostic modalities: RBT 94.7%, blood culture 65.6%, and SAT 95.1%.[12] The RBT, IgG/IgM enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and polymerase chain reaction all demonstrate comparably excellent diagnostic performance.
