RYR2 and Schnyder corneal dystrophy: Aberrant activation of RyR2 due to increased phosphorylation at Ser2808 and Ser2030 will elevate cytoplasmic Ca2+, activate Ca2+/calmodulin kinase, which in turn will phosphorylate RyR2 at Ser2814, further increasing the propensity of Ca2+ leak during diastole, ventricular tachyarrhythmia, cardiac arrest, and SCD.
