Given that increased striatal BDNF-TrkB signaling has been linked to improvements in motor and learning deficits in various neurodegenerative disease models [32,33,58], we investigated whether this protein pathway is altered in striatal tissue samples from the above cohort of R6/2 mice at the end of behavioral testing, following chronic fingolimod treatment (0.1 mg/kg, i.p., q3.5d) from 4 to 11 weeks of age. The gene discussed is NTRK2; the disease is neurodegenerative disease.
