In this study, the three SNPs in the PNPLA3 gene—AA-rs4823173, GG-rs2896019, and AA-rs2281135—and their risk haplotype (AGA) were associated with elevated ALT and AST levels in patients who cleared HCV infection, but not in CHC patients, supporting a haplotype-dependent effect of PNPLA3 variation in patients who cleared HCV infection. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and cryohydrocytosis.
