From a genetic perspective, susceptibility to SLE is strongly associated with the HLA class II region, particularly HLA-DRB1, with HLA-DRB1*03:01 linked to the production of anti-Ro and anti-La autoantibodies, and HLA-DR3 correlated with anti-dsDNA antibody formation [150]. This evidence concerns the gene HLA-DRB1 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
