Considering the fact that staining of apolipoproteins A1, E and J in the intra- and extracellular spaces was significantly increased in the post-ischemic brain in the model used [27,39,55], we decided to investigate the expression of the corresponding genes (ApoA1, ApoE and ApoJ), also called clusterin (CLU), using PCR in the frontal cortex of rats that survived cerebral ischemia for a period of 2 years. The gene discussed is APOE; the disease is brain ischemia.
