Nuclear RB1CC1 increases the number of histone modifications (H4K12Ac) present at ferroptosis-linked enhancers by recruiting elongator acetyltransferase complex subunit 3 (ELP3) through forkhead box (FOX)-binding motifs, thus stimulating ferroptosis-associated genes such as CHCHD3 to improve mitochondrial functioning, as shown in lung cancer models [129]. This evidence concerns the gene ELP3 and lung cancer.
