The lungs exhibited features consistent with pulmonary edema (Figure 5A,C) and chronic emphysema (Figure 5B), as well as sequelae of bronchopneumonia, with alveoli filled with necrotic material positive for CD68 (Figure 5D,E) and endothelium negative for CD31 in the affected areas (Figure 5F). This evidence concerns the gene PECAM1 and bronchopneumonia.
