In pediatric oncology, tumor biomarkers such as alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-HCG), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), and urinary catecholamines are more frequently utilized because of their relative specificity for pediatric tumor types, including germ cell tumors and neuroblastoma [4,6]. The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is neuroblastoma.
