A more recent study by Majumder et al. [71] demonstrated the role of toll-like receptor (TLR)4 in HTN-induced gut hyperpermeability by using the C3H/HeJLps-d strain [nonfunctional TLR4; referred to as TLR4 mutant (TLR4M)] and the C3H/HeOuJ strain [functioning TLR4; referred to as TLR4 normal (TLR4N)]. The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
