Through this approach, the main conclusion of this study was that CD28+CD45RA+CD8bright cells (and, in detail, CD28 expression on this subpopulation) were “significantly” associated with genetic susceptibility to T1DM, while “EM” DNT cell percentage (like other subsets) could be “potentially” associated with genetic susceptibility to T1DM [81]. This evidence concerns the gene CD28 and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
