Peroxisomal acyl‐coenzyme A oxidase 1 (ACOX1), a key enzyme in peroxisomal fatty acid oxidation, was shown to be downregulated in renal biopsies from acute kidney injury and CKD patients (Chen et al. 2023), while Ppargc1a suppression reflects failing mitochondrial biogenesis and energy metabolism, as observed in diabetic kidney disease (She et al. 2022). Here, ACOX1 is linked to acute kidney injury.
