After combined treatment with elesclomol and copper ions, copper ions are retained in mitochondria, reactive oxygen species accumulate, and then the breakdown of SLC7A11 is promoted, additionally promoting the redox imbalance and ferroptosis of colorectal cancer cells, revealing that elesclomol exerts an antitumor effect in colorectal cancer via precisely aiming at the ATP7A/SLC7A11/ferroptosis signal [24]. Here, SLC7A11 is linked to colorectal cancer.
