Estradiol upregulates genes like Bcl-2, which promotes the survival of B cells, increases the production of B-cell activation factor (BAFF), and induces polyclonal activation of B cells, while testosterone negatively regulates these changes, and for this reason, autoimmunity is more prevalent in females than in males, and increases in males with testosterone deficiency (43–45). Here, BCL2 is linked to Autoimmunity.
