Although this pathway is less common, specially in sterile myocardial infarction re-perfusion injury, it starts when the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) inside the cytosol of the cells is recognized and sensed by human caspase 4, 5 and caspase-11 from mouse specimens; this will trigger these caspases to cleave the Gasdermin D (GSDMD) that will eventually form pores that is permeable to K+ efflux.
