The SWI/SNF (Brg/Brm-associated factor, BAF) chromatin remodeling complexes are large multisubunit assemblies that regulate nucleosomal structures via adenosine 5′-triphosphate hydrolysis and implicated in carcinogenesis as cancer genome sequencing revealed mutations in SWI/SNF genes in more than 20% of cancers (20–22). The gene discussed is SMARCA1; the disease is cancer.
