ACTA2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: We showed that there are substantially higher levels of bile acids in the portal serum of patients with advanced cirrhosis (with or without MASH) compared to patients with normal liver function and that UBA treatment increased the expression of the profibrogenic gene ACTA2 in LX2 cells, pHSC cells, and MASLD patient PCLS tissues compared to CBA treatment.
