SLC1A1 and renal fibrosis: This protein is involved in potassium excretion, sodium retention, and amino acid reabsorption in the kidneys, as well as maintaining acid–base balance, which aligns with the kidney’s function of “distinguishing and eliminating turbidity.” Our prior research utilizing bioinformatics has revealed that SLC1A1 undergoes changes during the progression of renal fibrosis and is the sole target of significant traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulas aimed at clearing turbidity in proximal renal tubular transport.
