TACSTD2 and thyroid cancer: TROP-2 is regarded as an oncogene because it is found to be upregulated in many human cancers, like ovarian, pancreatic, prostatic, etc. TROP2 plays an important role in tumor cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion, thereby impacting the prognosis and treatment of cancer patients.9 The differentiation between benign and malignant thyroid neoplasms and between the most common subtypes of thyroid malignancy, namely the papillary and follicular thyroid carcinoma, remains a diagnostic challenge in many cases, especially those with overlapping morphological features.
